Description
Summary:This article argues that Catholic teaching on justification, which highlights the gift of the Spirit and its renewing power, finds exegetical support in Paul’s letter to the Galatians. In turn, the presentation on justification in the Catechism of the Catholic Church illuminates key passages in the letter. Four themes are discussed vis-à-vis Paul’s reference to justification in Gal 2:16: the prominence of the community of faith, the role played by Jesus and his faithfulness-unto-death, the empowering gift of the Spirit, and the “law of Christ.”
