| Summary: | The purpose of this article is to highlight a line of continuity between Max Weber's reflections on the topic of profession and those of Niklas Luhmann dedicated to the theme of trust: It is possible to outline a kind of consequentiality of the processes that have led from centering on "transcendent transcendence" to centering on "immanent transcendence". The slide identified by Max Weber "from heaven to earth," which could not eliminate religious appeal, has simply "sanctified the earth while sacrificing heaven." Only at this point was Durkheim's "prophecy" fulfilled: the sacred today coincides with the social system, creating new and unresolved "vulnerabilities.". |
