| Summary: | Dieser Band geht dem geplanten Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint voran, welches den Wortschatz der Septuaginta aus historischer Perspektive behandelt. Hierzu wird die Verwendung der wichtigsten Wörter und Wortfamilien von den frühen griechischen Autoren an über nicht-literarische Zeugnisse der Koine, die Septuaginta selbst, bis in die jüdisch-hellenistische und die frühchristliche Literatur verfolgt. Die ersten Phasen dieser Entwicklung waren Thema mehrerer Tagungen zwischen 2013 und 2017, deren Beiträge in diesem Band publiziert werden. Folgende Fragestellungen stehen im Mittelpunkt: Wie werden im klassischen und hellenistischen Griechisch Begriffe verwendet, die auch der Septuaginta bekannt sind? Wie kann man ihre Bedeutung, ihren Gebrauch und ihre semantische Entwicklung genauer beschreiben? Wo und wie verwendet die Septuaginta diese Begriffe? Wie lässt sich ihr Verhältnis zu den hebräischen und aramäischen Äquivalenten bestimmen? The earliest of these phases were the object of a several workshops held between 2013 and 2017, the proceedings of which now appear in this book. The papers focus on the following key questions: what can we say about the meaning, the usage and the semantic development of Greek words attested in the Septuagint; where and how does the Septuagint use these words, and to what extent do they correspond to their Hebrew and Aramaic equivalents? Furthermore, to what extent can papyri contribute to a better understanding of typical Septuagint words?
