Summary: | There is a growing appreciation of the Koran by Christian theologians combined with new insights in its revelatory quality (e.g. Mouhanad Khorchide). In what sense, however, is the Koran inspired ? In this article, I presuppose a wide concept of divine inspiration which is not limited to biblical texts but can be applied to all testimonies of faith. Even the Bible is the »Word of God«- and as such inspired - only insofar as it conveys a message that can be conveyed by God alone. If the Koran conveys such a message, it can be interpreted, from a Christian point of view, as a true testimony of faith, similar to the sacred Scriptures of Israel. |
