| Summary: | Cet exposé porte sur l'homélie 19 du recueil de Jean de Dalyatha, moine mystique chrétien syro-oriental, qui a vécu au VIIIe s. Cette homélie, intitulée: "Avertissements et recommandations sur la sainte pénitence", est régie par la corrélation miséricorde/pénitence. Jean de Dalyatha offre un sens très particulier de la miséricorde comme étant une participation à la compassion universelle, sens développé au cours du présent exposé. Celui-ci propose d'abord de fournir de brèves précisions au sujet de l'auteur et de son œuvre, de présenter ensuite la structure de l'homélie traitée et ses concepts clés avant de s'arrêter sur la dialectique qui l'anime et de conclure avec une synthèse. En annexe est livrée une traduction française inédite de l'homélie étudiée. This article focuses onby Jean de Dalyatha, a Syro-Oriental mystical Christian monk who lived in the 18th century. The title of his Homily - which can be translated as "Cautions and Recommendations on Holy Penance" - is based on the correlation between mercy and penance. Jean de Dalyatha offers a very particular meaning of mercy as a participation in universal compassion, a meaning developed in the current presentation. This presentation first offers some details about the author's subject and overall works, then describes the structure of Homily 19 and its key concepts, considers the dialectic that inspired it, and concludes with a summary. A new French translation of the Homily is given in the annex. |
