Summary: | In recent years, scholars of cultural anthropology have shown interest in the free exchange of gifts in social relations, especially in religious communities. In their conclusions, they show the extent to which the spirit of gratuity is a human and spiritual asset, which contrasts with the spirit of efficiency and gain, characteristic of the current culture. These studies have inspired theological research on spiritual experience as a consciousness of God's free gifts accepted and lived in faith and thanksgiving. This relationship between the believer and God is enriched by an awareness of the gift of Jesus Christ, received sacramentally in Eucharistic communion in which there is an exchange of love with God and with our brothers and sisters. |
