Description
Summary:Like his brother Karl, Hugo Rahner repeatedly crossed the boundaries of his disciplines, church history and patrology, and also took up current practical-theological questions in his publications. Apart from the anthology Die Pfarre, which he edited, this can be seen, for example, in his draft of a theology of proclamation and in his remarks on the weakness of the church and on the Christian’s relationship with the world. For Hugo Rahner, patrology, spirituality, and pastoral practice are inextricably linked to each other. He did research on patristic texts and church history not only out of historical interest, but also from a practical-spiritual and pastoral perspective. Thusly, Hugo Rahner became a pioneer of practical theology.
