| Sumario: | RSZ did much for the Jewish community in Israel and successfully organized the collection of money on its behalf. This success caused the rising of political suspicions during the Russian-Turkish War, and he was even imprisoned for that. We attempt to explain his actions and influence on the sending of ẓedaka to Israel and the theoretical reasons he gave for the importance of these actions. The article concentrates specially on the ideological concept of these reasons, and shows that part of them are based on RSZ's kabbalistic conception. The article begins by presenting RSZ's theoretical view about EretzIsrael as it appears in his writings (and epistles), and then continues by describing his practical reasons and activities for the raising charity for Eretz-Israel. |
