Situé au sein du « quartier épiscopal » de la ville byzantine, ce petit complexe balnéaire a connu une riche histoire qui a été mise en évidence dans le cadre de nouvelles recherches de terrain amorcées en 2009. Bâtis sur les vestiges d’un édifice thermal antique, les bains de Placcus ont connu quatre phases d’occupation avant leur fermeture, leur réutilisation domestique et enfin leur destruction en 749 apr. J.-C. Cet article pose également la question du statut de cet établissement qui, par sa morphologie, son utilisation et son emplacement, se présente comme un balnéaire public alors qu’il ne comporte que des aménagements thermaux de taille modeste. 
520 |a Discovered in 1928, the baths of Placcus are one of the few thermal buildings almost entirely excavated in the ancient Gerasa of the Decapolis. Located within the “episcopal district” of the Byzantine city, this small bath complex underwent numerous developments that have been studied since 2009. Built on the remains of an ancient thermal building, these baths experienced four phases of occupation prior to their closure and their domestic reuse before their destruction in 749 ad. This article also raises the question of the status of an establishment, which by its morphology, use and location should be considered a public one despite modest thermal facilities.
