Summary: | The Jehu revolution is marked by a long trail of blood. Can Yhwh approve all this violence? Perhaps it is possible to invert the terms of the question. At the center of the story there is not so much the frenetic and ferocious action of Jehu, as above all there is the divine word which, after being announced, is realized. The unifying concept of 1--2 Kings is the prophetic word which does not remain without effect. Behind the events of the Jehu rebellion there is the word of Yhwh which moves to the foreground on the stage of the story. |
