Summary: | In February 1917, a constituent Assembly endowed Mexico with a new constitution. It included numerous provisions that restricted religious freedom. The analysis of the debates makes it possible to know that at the same time that the Catholic Church was attacked, many of its proposals in social matters were collected and a language similar to the ecclesiastical was used in the arguments, which allows to point out a new kind of clericalism within the anti-clericalism of the constituent. |
