Padre Antônio Henrique Pereira Neto, assassinato há 50 anos, foi formado nas pegadas da renovação do Concilio Vaticano II, tendo como seu Pastor e modelo o profeta Dom Helder Câmara. Ele dedicou sua vida à formação da juventude no clima desafiante da ditadura militar no Brasil. No período, a juventude ainda mantinha uma boa dose de consciência política como contestação às arbitrariedades do regime militar. Ficou provado pela Comissão da Memória e da Verdade de Pernambuco que o bárbaro assassinato se propunha atingir a imagem da Igreja de Olinda e Recife com o Pastor Dom Helder, assim como a juventude universitária organizada.Abstract: The main objective of this article is to increase the new generations' awareness of this crime and encourage them to responsibly commit themselves to prevent this type of cruel act from occurring again. It is also essential that the youth should know their true heroes - those who gave their own life in search for more life (martyrdom). Father Antônio Henrique Pereira Neto, murdered fifty years ago, was trained in the period that followed the renovation brought about by the Council Vatican II, and had as his Pastor and model the prophet Dom Helder Câmara. He devoted his life to the education of the youth in the challenging period of the military dictatorship in Brazil. During that period the young people still maintained a good amount of political consciousness as a form of opposition to the military regime's arbitrary acts. The Commission of Memory and Truth of the state of Pernambuco proved that the barbarian murder had as an objective to belittle the image of the churches of Olinda and Recife and the Pastor Dom Helder, and to threaten the organized groups of university students.Keywords: Father Antônio Henrique Pereira Neto; Murder: Dom Helder Câmara; Diocese of Olinda and Recife. |
