| Summary: | Contemporary theology of religion often utilizes the doctrine of the Trinity as a central hermeneutical framework in order to properly conceive of the relationship between the Christian faith and other religions. But why? In this article, I argue that Divine revelation, i.e. God's self-communication to the world, is by no means a more or less obvious possibility but can only be understood in a Trinitarian way. This does not imply, however, any form of inclusivism or even exclusivism. On the contrary, a Trinitarian theology of religion facilitates an appreciative view on non-Christian religions and could be regarded as a service to their truth. |
