Description
Summary:Also in the field of economy there is a revival of interest in spirituality. As in general the term remains quite vague and a huge realm of different activities and practices is identified as spiritual. The article tries to call reasons causing the desire for spirituality in particular among management-persons. One decisive reason could be increasing helplessness within an ever more complex society in which decisions are necessary as well as impossible at the same time. From a Christian point of view it is necessary to distinguish between concepts of spirituality that can be recommended or even supported and such to be warned of. Are there criteria for such a distinction? The article comes to the conclusion that spirituality is to be esteemed as far as it promotes and fosters human personality within the economic field. However if it is a pure means of instrumentalization making persons more effective in economic as well as in moral terms it has to be criticized from a theological angle.
