Description
Summary:People who live according to a secular (or non-religious) spirituality can draw our attention to aspects, which can be considered as precious and central even to a Christian spirituality, e.g. their desire for a personal (spiritual) development of the self or their readiness to take upon themselves demanding (maybe even ascetic) practices. Nevertheless the significance of beliefs, faith doctrine and revelation remain important for a spirituality which calls itself Christian. In this article Teresa Peter deals with the - according to her - inappropriate understanding of religion (and especially of Christian religion as a religion based on revelation) as an authority which delivers ready-made answers as well as with an aspect of spirituality which fascinates many people, the training of one's own mind. This leads to a reflection concerning the interconnectedness of religious teaching and spirituality.
