Summary: | The martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) provides the opportunity for the development of an embodied spirituality by seeking divine blessing in three ways. Firstly, BJJ provides an opportunity to learn respect for our God given physicality, and our finitude. Secondly, the pursuit of and engagement in a state of flow provides a model for biblical holism and the cultivation of virtue. Thirdly, the chief virtue that can be cultivated is that of humility, as BJJ is both a competitive and collaborative activity. |
