Description
Summary:Luther's interpretation of the Lord's Prayer in the Great Catechism shows, that he understood the »evil« not just as a neutral, but as a person, namely the devil. This conviction was based in his exegetical insights in the Biblical text. The devil, actually, could be felt within man's life. From his youth, Luther made the experience of the devil fighting against Jesus Christ and using man 's soul as his battle field. His spiritually warst weapon was temptation that felt Luther over his whole life. The struggle puts man in between devil and God, desiring for God's help against the attempter. Satan, in this respect takes all parts against reformation and can be seen in the denial of justification by faith alone. Within this, individual man feels the consequences of the large battle between devil and God in history of salvation - which, as believers can hope, will end with God's victory.
