Alors qu’au cours des siècles précédents elle était définie trop exclusivement par la doctrine de la présence réelle, le concile a proclamé qu’elle « contient l’ensemble des biens spirituels de l’Église, à savoir le Christ lui-même, notre Pâque, le pain vivant, qui par sa Chair, vivifiée et vivifiante par l’Esprit Saint, procure la vie aux hommes ». Mais le don de l’Esprit aux assemblées célébrantes et la dimension vivifiante du grand Mystère de la foi, clairement exprimés dans l’euchologie, restent encore trop ignorés dans les présentations pastorales, même dans les manuels de formation chrétienne. Cela constitue un défi pour les liturgistes. D’importantes missions s’annoncent pour eux : poursuivre la réforme liturgique dans les autres institutions ecclésiales. The texts of the Second Vatican Council profoundly renewed the understanding of the Eucharist. Whereas in previous centuries it was defined too exclusively by the doctrine of the Real Presence, the Council proclaimed that it “contains the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch, the living bread, who through his Flesh, which the Holy Spirit enlivened and made vivifying, gives life to men”. But the gift of the Spirit to congregations and the life-giving dimension of the great Mystery of faith, whilst clearly expressed in the Euchology, are still too often ignored in pastoral presentations, even in Christian teaching textbooks. Liturgists thus need to rise to the challenge of important new missions in order to pursue the reform of the liturgy within the other ecclesial institutions. |
