Summary: | The author gives the results of a study on eleven Protestant Churches, called « immigrant Churches », in the Republic of Argentina. He refutes a current interpretation which sees in the condition of the immigrant the reason for the rise of ethnic churches, by pointing out the existence of meta-ethnic religious societies which come from the initiative of immi grants. Here the determinant is the ecclesiastical tradition which influences the immigrant, and not the status of immi grant. The author attempts to define the ethnic church of immigrants, and to discover its origins, its conditions of development and its orientations. (Whether it accomodates to society or whether it is divisive). |
