Description
Summary:The misunderstanding between Jesus and the disciples, as narrated in Matt 16:5-12, is usually explained through the exchange between the literal and the figurative meaning of the Greek noun ζύμη "leaven": Jesus tells the disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees, referring to their teaching not to their bakery. The misunderstanding nevertheless could have originated simply by the different meanings that the word חמירא may have in Aramaic.
