As the author makes clear, this alternative rests on a questionable ontological presupposition that has led theology for the last three hundred years to work on the issue of the compatibility of Christian faith with the scientific worldview as well as the issue of theology's own scientific status. Against this, the author argues that religion is wholly and exclusively related to the presence of reality, and that this has epistemic implications that fundamentally differentiate religion from scientific access to reality. This has consequences for the conception and task of academic theology. | ||
