The analysis of data concerning the network structure of a local congregation shows ways that informal learning can be understood as a form of cultural exchange and shows the important role of church volunteers in this process. The article examines what contribution such network data can make to a theory of church as a hybrid of social forms and thereby to idealized conceptions of church as a conglomerate of active groups, a modern nonprofit organization and a community institution. |
