Description
Summary:This article re-examines the Nancy Drew stories through the lens of Mabel Maney's parodic, queer reimagining, The Case of the Not-So-Nice Nurse , arguing that the religious context and deployment of both the secular and sacred meanings of 'mystery' in the latter shed light on the uses of religion in key Nancy Drew works. It suggests that reading the Nancy Drew novels through Maney's text enables the reader to see how alternative spiritualities function in key texts as ways of educating the reader in religious, as well as detective, mystery.
