Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über Entwicklung und gegenwärtigen Stand der Transplantationsmedizin und erläutert die Bedeutung von Netzwerken wie Eurotransplant. Es werden aktuell verfolgte Wege diskutiert, den Organmangel zu lindern. Nur ein mehrdimensionaler Ansatz kann das Problem lösen und es bedarf aus verschiedenen Gründen mehr als in anderen Bereichen einer gemeinsamen und partnerschaftlichen Anstrengung von Medizin, Gesellschaft und Politik. | ||
| 520 | |a The first successful kidney transplantation in 1954 was the beginning of a veritable and spectacular success story. However, attempts to overcome the chronic organ shortage that accompanies transplantation medicine pose considerable ethical and societal challenges. The article provides an overview of the development and current status of transplantation medicine and highlights the importance of transplantation networks such as Eurotransplant. Currently proposed and pursued approaches to overcome the chronic organ shortage are discussed. Only multi-dimensional concepts can solve the problem and, for various reasons, more than in other areas, there is a need for a joint and collaborative effort by medicine, society and politics. | ||
