Description
Summary:This paper endeavors to provide, through a selection of eight topics, some of the most significant issues and events related to Catholic Church Communications in 2015. The selection is of course subjective and limited due to the scope of the paper, but the authors have chosen these topics either because they received wide media coverage or because they have long-term and significant implications for the Church and for society. The highlights are: The publication of Pope Francis's second encyclical, Laudato Si'; The immigration and refugee crises; The papal visit to the United States; The Ordinary Synod of Bishops on the Family; The persecution of Christians and battles over religious liberty; Efforts to legalize gay marriage; The various controversies and scandals besetting the Vatican; Developments with regard to the legalization and promotion of physician-assisted suicide.
