Summary:Yang Huilin is famous for his pioneering work in integrating theology with literary studies in China. To fully elucidate the significance of his work, in this article I analyze the early thought of Yang against the cultural context of his time. I submit that there are profound similarities and interesting differences between the American post-secular approach and the Chinese theological approach in literary studies.
