No obstante, perteneciente al orden de la creación, ha sido elevado por Cristo a la dignidad de sacramento, de ahí que forme parte del orden de la redención y que, por tanto, sea a la Iglesia la responsable de su regulación, es decir, de aprobar o no cuanto se requiera para su validez y celebración lícita, respetando los elementos meramente civiles y sin perjuicio de la normativa aplicable a los matrimonios mixtos. La Iglesia católica - latina o oriental -, así como las Iglesias ortodoxas, del mismo modo que las diversas Comunidades eclesiales, han venido disuadiendo a sus respectivos miembros de contraer matrimonio conpersonas pertenecientes a otras comunidades; pero el derecho al matrimonio y la libertad en la elección del cónyuge no siempre lleva a la elección del cónyuge ideal para la fe profesada. En este artículo ofrecemos un resumen de la normativa eclesial y la teología de fondo que la informa, así como una aproximación a los esfuerzos realizados por el diálogo ecuménico e interconfesal. The marriage encloses an anthropologic and social reality that the Church cannot ignore. Nevertheless, belonging to the order of the celebration, it has been raised by Christ to the dignity of sacrament, so that forms a part of the order of th redemption and therefore the Church must regulate it, that is to say , to pass or not all that it needed for his valid and lawful celebration, respecting the merely civil elements and without prejudice of the regulation applicable to the mixed marriages. The catholic Church - Latin and oriental -, as well as the orthodox Churches, in the same way that the order diverse ecclesiastical Communities, they have come dissuading his reespective members from marrying with persons pelonging to other communities; but the right to the marriage and the freedom in the spouse election not always leads to the election of the ideal spouse for the own practised faith.
