Description
Summary:In his work The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry claims "words are the source of misunderstandings" (la parole est source de malentendus). Faced with his assertion we present this reflection on language as an instrument of dialogue and a means for humanizing the person. We approach the topic by considering the origins of language, briefly reviewing the main Jewish and Christian philosophical, theological and literary postures referring to the biblical account of the tower of Babel. This will allow us to see how language always says more than it truly verbalizes, how it has different levels of understanding, how in speaking to everyone, language is not understood in the same way by all, how it teaches in a limitless way and how in the end it will be the element that carries redemption in itself.
