Summary: | Although he writes in an environment strongly marked by Greek ideas, Origen builds a theology of the body from Bible readings based on Semitic anthropology, fundamentally different from Greek anthropology. Unfortunately, as the Second Council of Constantinople condemned him in 533, his theology was rejected and subsequent forgotten in the ulterior theological tradition. This article defends the idea that the theology of the body, elaborated by Origen, can be beneficial to the current Christian reflection on topics such as sexuality, among others. |
