Description
Summary:This article introduces a limited selection of the longer, more comprehensive discussion of God-imagery across many religions in Val Webb's recent book "Like catching water in a net: human attempts to describe the Divine" (New York and London: Continuum 2007), winner of the "general religion" category in USA Best Books 2007. Specific theologians and periods of theological evolution not mentioned here, nor optimally described for reasons of space, are developed more fully in her book. The article aims at highlighting the metaphorical nature of contextually limited Divine language images in order to invite a more comprehensive reading of the topic.
