Description
Summary:This article attempts to describe church divisions on the background of Irenaeus' view of human beings. The human being is created to grow. In the process of growing humans take wrong paths again and again and sin, that is, destroy relationships and create divisions. This dynamics also affects the church and, in the worst case, eifects church division. Through the Irenaean viewpoint it is possible to integrate church divisions into the process of human growth and to interpret them as limited periods within the journey of growth. Such a point of view gives hope in a situation of ecumenical Stagnation and fosters the ecumenical endeavour.
