Description
Summary:The spiritual exercises of Ignatius of Loyola are one ofthe few systematic spiritual training manuals of Christianity. But their intention to achieve a deepened experience of the divine reality, in Ignatius' time-dependent formulation nowadays often fails to reach its transcendental psychological aim. Renewals of the method on the other hand run the risk of trivialising the authentical experience out of which Ignatius formulated his exercises. Because of this, innovative efforts should integrate methods for timelessly valid inductions of a spiritual attitude. It should thereby be intended to preserve the exercises' own spirit, while their form has to change. Mistakenly ignored by Christians, the methodical répertoire of Tibetan Buddhism is an appropriate source of inspiration.
