| Summary: | The study of R. Kessler had shown, that the translation of Est 8,11 isn’t correct and moreover nonsensical in most of the German translations e.g. the so-called Einheitsübersetzung. As Kessler suggests, the Codex Sinaiticus should serve as a support for a correct translation. The problem consists in the fact that of all the other antique Greek translations only the Codex Sinaiticus confirms Kessler’s suggestion. To make matters worse, this section πασαν κτλ. of this antique document, which relate to Est 8,11, isn’t a textual correction but a supplementary marginal note, obviously added later in regard of a Hebrew presentation. Besides this fact the circle of commentators (glossator) hadn’t or couldn’t take into consideration in any way the infinitive “to destroy, to slay, and to exterminate”. Therefore the presumption could arise, that these infinitives were not taken up deliberately because they could disturb the tenor of the decree, written in Est 8,12a-x, which isn’t the fact in the passage πασαν κτλ. R. Kessler hat gezeigt, dass die Übersetzung aus dem Hebräischen von Est 8,11 in den meisten deutschsprachigen Übersetzungen problematisch ist. Dies vermag der Codex Sinaiticus zu stützen, der aber diesbezüglich ein singulärer antiker griechischer biblischer Textzeuge ist. Näherhin aber handelt es sich beim Passus πασαν κτλ. in Bezug auf Est 8,11 nicht um eine Textkorrektur, sondern um eine Glosse, die vermutlich später hinzugefügt worden ist. Zudem fehlen im Sinaiticus die Infinitive „zu erschlagen, zu ermorden und auszurotten“. Es kann vermutet werden, dass diese Infinitive ganz bewusst nicht berücksichtigt worden sind, da sie im Kontext des Erlasses von Est 8,12a-x dessen Tenor stören könnten, was beim Passus πασαν κτλ. nicht der Fall ist. |
