| Summary: | The Wisdom of Ben Sira was published in Finnish for the first time in the seventeenth century. Together with the other Old Testament Apocrypha the Wisdom of Ben Sira became, however, relatively unknown, as the most Bible editions were published without the Apocrypha. But there are examples that show us that some Finnish artists and writers, in particular, were interested in Ben Sira’s practical wisdom. Ben Sira’s positive statements concerning wine have had the consequence that a knight order was dedicated to the Jerusalemite sage in Finland. Even the Finnish novels usually mention Ben Sira in contexts that deal with the consumption of wine. Das Sirachbuch erschien auf Finnisch zum ersten Mal im siebzehnten Jahrhundert. Zusammen mit den anderen alttestamentlichen Apokryphen war das Sirachbuch jedoch relativ unbekannt, weil die meisten Bibelausgaben ohne die Apokryphen erschienen. Es gibt aber auch Beispiele, die zeigen, dass besonders einige finnischen Künstler und Schriftsteller sich für Sirachs Lebensweisheit interessierten. Sirachs positive Aussagen über Weingenuss haben dazu beigetragen, dass dem Weisheitslehrer aus Jerusalem ein Ritterorden in Finnland gewidmet wurde. Auch die finnische Belletristik erwähnt Sirach meistens in Kontexten, die von Weingenuss handeln. |
