| Summary: | The text of Genesis 1,28 contains a chain of five imperatives – perû (be fruitful), rebû (multiply, be many), mil’û (fill), kibšû (subdue) and redû (+ be; rule over) – to which some commentators and environmentalists trace the present-day ecological problems and abuses. This article seeks to look afresh at the text vis-à-vis those imperatives and some other imperatives in biblical and non-biblical contexts. It argues that a proper interpretation and execution of the divine mandate in Gen 1,28 would lead to discovering the will of God for a healthier relationship between human beings and other creatures; and that the world’s ecosystem would be better for it. Genesis 1,28 enthält eine Liste von fünf Imperativen – perû (fruchtbar sein), rebû (vermehren), mil’û (vollfüllen), kibšû (unterwerfen) and redû (+ be; herrschen über) –, zu denen einige Kommentatoren und Umweltforscher zu den gegenwärtigen ökologischen Problemen und Missbräuchen Beziehungen herstellen. Dieser Artikel stellt neuerlich eine Einzeluntersuchung zu den fünf Imperativen im biblischen und nichtbiblischen Kontext dar. Es wird argumentiert, dass eine richtige Interpretation und Ausführung des göttlichen Auftrages von Gen 1,28 zur Entdeckung des Willens Gottes zu einer gesünderen Beziehung auf der Basis eines Weltökosystems zwischen Menschen und anderen Schöpfungsgegebenheiten führen würde. |
