Summary: | Can violence save? Can suffering save? Can death save? Can they be redemptive? And the Cross? Violence, suffering, death and the Cross have no meaning by themselves but it is legitimate to want to give them a justification. This paper raises the question of salvation: salvation of human beings who are violent and/or victims of violence; salvation of human beings who are suffering, dying, wounded, killed, dead. People who are crucified anyway. This paper also raises the question of the Cross as redemptive and claims, somewhat candidly, that only Divine Love can really save, if God is really God. |
