| Summary: | In the face of the contemporary forms of communications and media traditional journals must face enormous challenges. Naturally thesechallenges concern the intellectual world and work in general, as one can discern a general shift from reading to watching with its attendant change of modes of scientific knowledge. Methods and media of learning gain greater importance to the apparent detriment of teaching and researching objective content. Wtih an eye to the development of multimedia in the past 25 years this contribution looks for shifts of a similar kind in earlier times in order to provide some orientation in the current situation. Besides the information there remains the necessity for thought and consideration needing their own space. The evolving juridical structures for the media will need to take this into account and could serve a reconsideration of necessities and possibilities. |
