Summary: | The article presents an essay on the Tradition. After describing the role of the Scriptures and the Tradition in the transmission of the revelation, the author highlights the great work of the Spirit in this respect. He claims that the revelation is still in progress for those who accept it with faith. This revelation always appears embedded in the various changing human cultures. In this sense, there is not a pure revelation, to which a certain culture can be simply added to or removed from. However, there is a certain permanent core of the revelation, which seeps into history, as sediments, going beyond cultural manifestations, and providing so a progressive enrichment to its understanding. The synchronic and diachronic harmony makes up the sign of the authentic path of the Tradition. Yet, as the truth can not be exhausted in words, the author presents examples of new biblical and patristic readings, and he finally sets the question of the possible "revealing" manifestations of God, beyond the Christian tradition. |
