Description
Summary:The "Theology of the Word of God" is usually associated with the continental "dialectical theology", above all with the Swiss-Reformed systematician Karl Barth. But it has also been found in a Norwegian, markedly Lutheran version, represented by John Nome (1904-1980) and Leiv Aalen (1906-1983), who shared Barths criticism of Neo-Protestantism, but at the same time also sharply censured Reformed and idealistic presuppositions in Barths theology. In so doing, they anticipated a criticism later voiced by Wolfhart Pannenberg. Bringing John Nome's theological concept into a dialog with Pannenberg and Oswald Bayer, the article explores the promises of a reformulated Word-of-God-Theology for the future.
