Description
Summary:Is 34 uses evidently the materials of Is 1-33 (especially Is 13-14 and 30) and 56-66 (see Is 61-63,6 and nqm). But the presentation of the judgment against Edom in Is 34 is a substitution to the judgment against Israel in Is 1 (see Is 1,2.4.11.30). In this process Is 34,1-2 uses the material and the vocabulary of Is 40-55 (see 40,26; 41,1-2; 42,5.10; 43,28; 54,8).
