Description
Summary:This essay pretends to approach the origin and theology of the word lay (lay-people). It is necessary to analyze the New Testament spirituality, within its rupture with the Old Testament. The introduction of this notion becomes reality between years 180 and 230 AD, meaning the end of the profane conviction in the New Testament: such it will be presented with the new bipolar relation between priesthood and lay people. The evangelical message tends to develop towards a much more clerical theology and ecclesiology. It is impossible to rethink today, the theology of the laity without deeply rethinking a theology of priesthood.
