Summary: | The authentic translation of the Bible plays an important role in official documents of the catholic church. But the main concern in this matter is the question of the authentic edition ("editio typica") and not so much the question of translation techniques. So this topic highlights the old conflict between scientific exegesis following the original text and traditional points of view following traditional bible-translations. A view on the documents shows up, that liberty of scientific work with the original text never was put in discussion, but that the interplay between exegetes and church dignitaries could be improved. |
