| Summary: | The theory of abstraction has been one of the most common subjects concerning the doctrine of Aquinas. This paper continues this tradition but establishing a critic point of view. Taking into account the numerous conflicts between different opinions on this matter, my purpose is to outline a differential approach allowing a) to discover the ambiguity causing a maze in the thomistic tradition, and b) to suggest a new path towards the positive comprehension of the actual meaning of “abstraction” according to Aquinas. La teoría de la abstracción ha constituido uno de los aspectos más estudiados dentro del corpus doctrinal tomasiano. El presente trabajo intenta retomar esta tradición pero desde un punto de vista crítico. Partiendo de la constatación de los numerosos entredichos y contradicciones que se han presentado hasta la fecha en este campo, el objetivo aquí consiste en proponer un análisis alternativo que permita a la vez a) descubrir el equívoco que ha provocado la aporía en que ha caído la tradición tomista, y b) plantear cuál es el sendero correcto que le permita a los hombres contemporáneos comprender lo que la abstracción significaba para el Doctor Angélico de acuerdo con lo afirmado en sus propios textos. |
