Summary:In 1618 Lope de Vega published El triunfo de la fe en los reinos del Japón, a martyr’s history inspired in a relación written by a Dominic missionary in those far lands. The poet himself confesses that it was send it to him from Manila, but he says nothing more. Now, for the first time, the whole process is revealed: which friars participated, how they convinced him and why they needed the help of a poet of life and example not so pious precisely.
