Description
Summary:The author aims to rediscover a forgotten aspect of the bibliography of Odo Casel, that is his philological interest in the mystic silence, the practice of silence in the Greek mysteries. This contribution is focused on the doctoral thesis of Casel: De philosophorum Graecorum silentio mystico, published in 1919. Although if influenced by the main achievements of the Religionsgeschichtliche Schule, Odo Casel is able to realise a personal approach to the Greek mysteries, which curiously starts with a series of works dedicated to the mystic silence. This is the beginning of the original theological lesson of Casel, which is remembered as Mysterienlehre. (English)
