Description
Summary:The article tries to find out, how contemporary Lutheran theologians think about thèmes concerning the "real presence" of Christ in the Eucharist. A survey of the most recent literature shows that there is a tendency to abandon the tradition which came from Luther and which maintained the real presence. In its stead a conception is formed, in which central stage is held by the idea of a "personal presence" (Personalpräsenz) which is connected with the idea of an "actual presence" (Aktualpräsenz). This means a loss, which can only be made good by a fundamental reflection upon what it means for the Eucharist to be a symbolic reality.
