Summary: | Many religious institutes in Canada and elsewhere are facing the prospect of either joining with other institutes or of dying out. It would be important not to let events take over. Rather, members should be proactive in helping to determine their future. The various steps to be taken when a union or a fusion (merger) is considered are spelled out here. Also, the possibility of covenant relationships with another institute are considered. Likewise, the recent establishment by the Holy See of Canadian Religious Stewardship as a pontifical public juridic person also provides for institutes that need assistance in these difficult times. |
