This article aims to fill at least a part of this gap and to show that thanks to them the situation of the dioceses in question was much less catastrophic than was long claimed. | ||

Jusqu'à une époque récente, nombre d'historiens abonderont dans le même sens. Mais ces évêques «suffragants» n'ont fait jusqu'ici l'objet d'aucune étude sérieuse. La présente contribution vise à combler du moins en partie ce vide et à démontrer que grâce à eux la situation des diocèses en question était beaucoup moins catastrophique qu'on ne l'a longtemps prétendu. | ||
