| Summary: | On Eine Untersuchung über den Staat (1925), Edith Stein develops a philosophical theory on modern State and refl ects on its variety of forms of association: mass, community, and society. She considers the relationship between State and people as two forms of realization of the community, as well as the link of individual and people, and individual and State. Read from the sacramental ecclesiology of Vatican II, this paper attempts to elucidate a possible, not direct but dialectical, interaction. To what extent has this philosophical conception of the modern State been able to shed light on the sacramental ecclesiology of the Council and on its public liturgical expression? And, on the contrary, how has this ecclesiology been, and could still be, a contribution to the world as a model of human coexistence? |
