Description
Summary:In this article, Bernard Lonergan’s delineation of the process of self-transcendence is combined with his ideas about the progress of communities. Coupling these two concepts leads to an understanding of how we, as humans, should act in society, and it becomes clear that progress in community requires ethical action. A new movement of interfaith service, that of the Interfaith Youth Core, is explored as a case study – an example of the horizon shifts that could occur when both individual and societal conversions, rooted in love and expressed in ethical action, impact a global community.
